Support
Stuck, found a bug, or spotted a bird that’s misidentified? We’d love to hear from you.
Get in touch
Email hello@subsong.app. Tell us your iPhone model and iOS version, and what happened, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Do I need an account?
No. Subsong works fully without one, offline too. A free account just backs up your progress and syncs it between devices.
I can’t hear the birdsong
Check the volume, and make sure the silent switch or Action button isn’t muting your phone. If you’re using Bluetooth headphones, try playing the song again once they’ve connected.
How does the learning work?
Each session is 10 questions. Subsong introduces a couple of new birds at a time, then brings each one back just before you’re likely to forget it (spaced repetition). Sight and sound are tracked separately, so a bird you know by its looks will keep coming back until you know its song too.
Why doesn’t every bird have a song question?
Some birds are learned by sight only. Usually that’s because only the male sings (the female blackbird, for example), and occasionally it’s because we don’t yet have a recording we’re allowed to use.
Collections
Tap a collection to see its birds and start it. You can work on up to three at once. Birds you’ve met keep coming back for review even after their collection is complete.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?. We’ll email you a code to enter in the app. If it doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your backed-up progress. See the privacy policy for details.
Starting over
Without an account: Profile → Reset all progress. With an account: delete your account, or email us and we’ll reset it.
